Hope & Knowledge complete charity cycle

Emdad Rahman

Fifty-five cyclists rode through the night to complete a journey through 64 miles of the English countryside in aid of the forgotten Rohingya people of Burma. The night-time  moon ride from Cambridge to London was organised by Hope & Knowledge to raise much needed awareness and funds for an important cause. Cyclists of all ages and abilities took up the challenge and the group’s collective willpower came together to make memories to cherish and treasure as the team exceeded the £7,500 target to reach a mammoth £23,500.

Sharif Akhtar said: “It was a privilege to be part of the team which organised this adventure and a pleasure to ride alongside people with so much heart and determination. A special thank you to all our volunteers for their tireless work with the support vehicle throughout the night. It was vital and much appreciated.”

Shamsul Abdeen from Hope & Knowledge said: “A great bunch from different parts of the country came together to enjoy an epic ride in English countryside. It was a memory we wil never forget.”

Cyclist Soifur Rahman added: “It was a real privilege and honour to be a part of a great event such as this. For Hope & Knowledge to attract 50 plus riders from up and down the country for an awesome night ride in the cold and dark was an extraordinary feat. What was even more amazing was how much money the whole team managed to raise – £23,000 and counting. I would definitely encourage anyone to get into cycling and if possible put it to use for a noble cause. Not only will you be getting fitter and healthier but you will feel a great sense of satisfaction and reward.”
