Electors launch alternative “election petition” to condemn verdict in Lutfur Rahman case

Four ordinary electors in Tower Hamlets are so incensed by the election court’s verdict in the Lutfur Rahman case that they have a launched a petition to condemn it. “Just as the four original petitioners got together to overthrow Lutfur,” they say, “we are standing together against this anti-democratic coup, and encourage all of you to join us.”

The four locals – Charlotte Gerada, Gary Reddin, Jusna Begum and Sean Rillo Raczka – refer to the trial as a “politically-charged stitch up” and list a number of instances in which the Commissioner presiding over the hearing appeared to have double standards.

The four petitioners have called on everyone who reads it to stand up against this prejudice and sign the petition – and to circulate it to everyone they know, asking them to sign it too.
