Waitrose recalls its Chinese Takeaway Bag

ANOTHER LABELLING mistake has led to another major product recall. The retailer is Waitrose. Their Waitrose Chinese Takeaway Bag for 2 contains molluscs – but this fact is not recorded on the label.

Significant numbers of people have an allergy to molluscs and could become very ill if they eat them. Even if people with allergies check the label, it will do them no good as the molluscs are not recorded there. Some people with allergies may not have been diagnosed yet, so indulging in this takeaway bag could lead to problems they didn’t know they had.

The product being recalled, the Waitrose Chinese Takeaway bag for 2, shows use by dates between 21st September and 4th December. That sounds like all bags should have been eaten by now anyway, but Waitrose points out that some shoppers may have frozen their purchases, so any bags in the freezer should be checked too.

Anyone who finds they have a takeaway bag should return the product to their local Waitrose & Partners branch for a full refund. Anyone with any questions should call Waitrose Customer Care on 0800-188 884, option 4.
