WHO WOULD have thought that right wing media personality would want to watch the World Cup? And that if she did, she would choose to watch it in the friendly atmosphere of the Dundee Arms in Bethnal Green?
Reports are circulating that this is in fact how Ms Hopkins chose to watch the England match with Croatia. The crowd at the Dundee is a friendly one, welcoming all-comers and known to be very at ease with a diverse clientele.
However, it seems that its usual tolerance did not extend to Ms Hopkins, who was asked to leave. It seems that Ms Hopkins responded in the negative, suggesting that the main go off, using a phrase we don’t print in our family-friendly news site. The crowd in the pub responded by chanting Ms Hopkins’s name and telling her she was a noun which, again, we do not print.
Ms Hopkins did eventually leave the pub – to loud cheers from the drinkers.
The East End is known for its friendliness and tolerance of all sorts – the Dundee Arms is a couple of doors south of the Labour Party office, for example – but Katie Hopkins was obviously a step too far. If you fancy dropping in for a pint in what is probably the only Katie-Hopkins-free pub in Tower Hamlets, head for Bethnal Green Tube.
