TOWER HAMLETS COUNCILLORS: what are they like? The hot topic in the Borough is the decision of Executive Mayor John Biggs to impose new contracts (“Tower Rewards”) on the Council workforce.  Do Labour Councillors back him or not? Ten councillors have signed an open letter asking him to think again.  Thirty-one have not.  It’s time we got to know our councillors a bit better, so this month we’ll be sharing some quotes from Labour’s public representatives.

“Ready to get things done.”
Cllr Kahar Chowdhury, Lansbury, Facebook, 13th June
(According to the Council website, Cllr Chowdhury does not currently hold a post awarded by the Executive Mayor which carries extra remuneration; but he is described on his own Twitter account as “Scrutiny Lead for Health and Adults”.)

Constituents may wish to ask Cllr Chowdhury what things he is ready to get done.  He did not sign the Open Letter asking Executive Mayor John Biggs to reconsider imposing new contracts of employment on the Council workforce.  Perhaps he will reconsider now that Unison members have taken six days of strike action and perhaps he is now ready to get the signing down.

If you wish to ask Cllr Chowdhury whether the things he is ready to get done include signing the Open Letter, contact him here:
