Two arrests as police take on East London drugs gang

THERE WAS A focus on Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge and Havering as police took further steps last week to shut down an East London organised criminal network which they believe is trading drugs in the area.

Police, armed with five warrants, raided properties in the East London boroughs, with a sixth warrant being executed further out in Essex. The two men taken into custody were aged 20 and 21. Both were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs. Police also seized two knives.

Detective Superintendent Paul Trevers said that the arrests, “demonstrate our continued commitment to reducing violence, drug use and supply and the misery that they cause to local communities. Significant disruption has been caused to a drugs network and two weapons have been removed from unsafe hands and can longer be used to cause harm or intimidate others.”

Police also appealed to members of the public to help them take more violent criminals off the streets by reporting people they know to be trading drugs to the police.  Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111 and give information anonymously.

Young people are also encouraged to contact the independent charity Fearless, where information can be given in complete anonymity.
