Teen murderer faces minimumof 29 years in jail

LIANNE GORDON lost her life nearly a year ago. Now Joshua Alexander, 17 has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering the Hackney resident. The Judge ordered that he must serve a minimum of 29 years.

The teen was sentenced for a long list of further convictions which he had amassed over the the last couple of years, with all additional prison and detention terms to be served concurrently with the murder penalty.
●As well as shooting Lianne Gordon, Alexander shot two other people at the same time and in the same place. They survived. Sentence: 14 years jail on each count.
●An incident at Hackney Central station on 1st March 2023 led to Alexander being convicted with attempted murder. Sentence: 16 years in jail.
●Three days before the shooting of Lianne Goron, shots were fired close the the road where she lived. Forensic evidence showed they were fired by the same gun that Alexander used days later to kill her. Arising out of that incident, Alexander was convicted of affray, possession of a blade; and possession of a firearm. Sentences: two years detention and a training order; two years detention and a training order; three years jail respectively.
●Alexander was also convicted on two counts of possession – one relating to cocaine and one relating to heroin. Sentence: 30 months in jail on each count.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke led the investigation into the murder. After the sentencing, she said, “Alexander is a dangerous individual, who at just 16 years old had no qualms about carrying and using a deadly weapon. We are pleased he has been brought to justice and that he will now spend a significant period behind bars.

“Our thoughts of course remain with the loved ones of Lianne Gordon, a mother of two who was shot dead for reasons we may never fully understand. We know this has been an extremely difficut time and we will continue to offer them our full support.”
