Brick Lane Curry Festival is back!

FOR ONE day only, Brick Lane will host the extravaganza that is the Brick Lane Curry Festival. It will be a day of great food, live music, dancing, costumes… and fun for all the family.

The Festival will take place on Sunday, 20th September. Proceedings start at around 12 noon and will go on until around 7pm. The day will begin with a procession through Brick Lane featuring dancers, dhol drummers, traditional Chinese lion dancing… and three large puppets.

There will be a main stage featuring live music and dance throughout the day. Performers include British-Bangladeshi artists Khiyo, Nish and Mumzy Stranger, as well as IMD Legion, DJ Naz ft. Bolly Flex, Taal Torongo, Showmi Das Dance Company, Bollywood Brass Band and others. There will be roaming performers, DJs and pop-up entertainment.

There will be a family-friendly zone with lots of free activities including traditional saree draping and lungi wrapping, dance workshops with IMD Legion and Bolly Flex, sports, games and a bouncy castle.

Once you’ve tried out the activities, you’ll be ready for food. Restaurants will be serving regional and speciality dishes and there will be street-food stalls and chef demonstrations.

The Festival returned in 2025, after going on hiatus for a while. First and foremost it was the celebration of the community feeling in Tower Hamlets. The borough is known for its diversity, but in Tower Hamlets that means that neighbours get along with each other – and have fun together. The festival also puts Brick Lane’s restaurants on the map. They get hungry punters on the day – and those are punters who, once they have seen what Brick Lane has to offer – are likely to return.

The Festival is organised by Tower Hamlets Council, the Bangla Town Business Association and Brick Lane Community Forum. Sadly, the Festival clashes with the second day of the heats for the Mayor’s Football Cup. Perhaps the organisers can avoid the clash next year.
