THE SCINTILLA BANDWAGON rolls on as the Bangladesh squad of the illustrious East London cricket team beat Fire of Sonargaon to reach the Plate final of Last Man Stands Bangladesh.
Big performances were required, and Scintilla came out flying, with guns blazing, to reach 205 runs for 1 wicket after 20 overs. Openers Omar Faruk and Zaman Arif struck 55 and 50 from 35 and 21 balls, before Mohammad Ekramul Hoque Chowdhury (18), Shafaet Amin (30) and Scintilla legend Bellal Hossain Orko wrapped up proceedings with 44 runs from 19 balls.
Despite 60 from Refat E Monzum Refat, Fire of Sonargaon were unable to match Scintilla at the wicket and were bowled out for 183/6.
Club captain Ahmed Choudhury commented, “A fantastic performance from a fantastic select squad. The boys were inch perfect today. Myself and the Chair have reminded ourselves that the next step is silverware in the final as champions – it’s in our DNA.”
