SOFRA GARLIC POWDER contains peanuts – but this is not declared on the label. Therefore anyone who has a peanut allergy is at risk if they consume the garlic powder.
It is welcome that so many companies are coming forward and withdrawing products when they realise they contain peanuts or have become contaminated with peanuts. It is welcome that awareness of peanuts allergies – and their consequences, including fatalities – is growing. What would be even more welcome would be for manufacturers to deploy this awareness at the point of manufacture. Getting it right first time would ensure no one is at risk.
It’s not just peanuts. If manufacturers can’t take enough care to label their products accurately in respect of peanuts, what other ingredients are getting missed off the label? Can we have confidence in what we are eating? These comments do not apply to Sofra, but they do apply to food companies in general.
The contaminated product comes in packs of 100g. The affected lot numbers (these can be found on the pack label) are: 200724, 010924, 240125, 080225, 150924, 011024, 151024, 011124, 111124, 201124, 011224, 010125. They have various best before dates in the first half of 2026.
If you have bought this product and you have a peanut allergy, or anyone in your household has a peanut allergy, you are advised not to consume the powder. You are advised to take it to the store where you bought it, where you should receive a full refund.
