Man charged with murder of Tower Hamlets woman

LINDA McARITY, 50, was murdered in Tower Hamlets late last year. Her body was found at a flat in Salisbury House, Hobday Street, E14 – after police had been contacted by people concerned for her welfare.

Ms McArity was pronounced dead at the scene. Two men, one aged 46 and one aged 62, were arrested in January on suspicion of murder. Both were released on bail and, later, were told that no further action would be taken against them.

However, police have now confirmed that Ian Kerr, 36, of no fixed address was charged on 14th May with murder, with two counts of fraud and with preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body.

Mr Kerr will stand trial on a date to be announced.
