Help re-birth the Joiners Arms

THE CAMPAIGN to open London’s first every community-run LGBTQI pub on the site of the legendary Joiners Arms on Hackney Road continues – celebrating the end of August with a fundraising party night.

And what a party is promises to be. It all kicks off on Friday, 31st August at The Cause, Tottenham – and promises to be, the Friends of the Joiners Arms (FOTJA) tell us, “a tropical-queer-dance-mess”.

Dan Beaumont & Charlie Porter (Chapter 10/Macho City) will be “laying down deep disco and house belters” alongside the likes of Mica Coca (Resis’dance), Kevin Clash (Ministry of Sound, Robot Rock), Junglehussi and dwayneDwayne.

Dwayne Clarke, of Friends of the Joiners Arms, said, “For too long, the Joiners Arms has existed only as a sweat-soaked memory. We want to come out, celebrate and party with the queer community, raising our hands to the skies and imagining what our future queer space will look and sound like. Since we’re still without a permanent space, we’re taking the Joiners on the road and this is our first stop!”

Stuart Glen, founder of The Cause, said, “We are so excited to be having a sun-drenched queer disco. The Cause is all about giving back to the community, particularly with our fundraising for local charities – we’re really looking forward to stretching our custom built soundsystem with the amazing DJ talent gathered for the Queer Riviera.”

A Night on the Queer Riviera takes place on Friday, 31st August. The evening begins with a pre-party from 5pm, including a BBQ hosted by Pluma and house cocktails at two for £10, with the main event kicking off at 10pm and running through to 5am.
