ABOUT HACKNEY FESTIVAL OF FITNESS:

Hackney Festival of Fitness is a festival of sport that combines running and fitness challenges with community celebrations. It is home of the Hackney Half, a race with start and finish lines on London’s iconic Hackney Marshes.

The route cruises down Mare Street through a carnival of sound, passes by the famous Town Hall, heads through the historic Broadway Market, and then takes in Hackney Wick, which is flush with vibrant street art.

In 2018 there were over 15,500 Hackney Half finishers, and more than 50,000 runners and spectators who celebrated the spirit of Hackney at the Hackney Festival of Fitness, an increase of 30,000 people from 2017.

Charity runners raised an average of £367 per person in 2018’s race.

Following the huge success of 2018, Virgin Sport is extending the festival activities to three days and create the UK’s largest outdoor festival of fitness.

Hackney Half was founded in 2014 and has been fully owned and operated by Virgin Sport since 2016.

Virgin Sport is thrilled to be working in partnership with Hackney Council, to encourage local residents and visitors to move through sport.
