LESS THAN TWO months after a woman was shot in Westgate Street, E8, a 40 year old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The arrest was made at a location in Oxford.
The shooting took place on 22nd November. The victim received emergency first aid from the police and the London Ambulance Service, before being taken to an East London hospital. She was critically ill and although her condition is now stable, she remains in hospital and is still receiving medical treatment for her injuries. The victim has been left paralysed as a result of the injuries. Her prognosis has not been reported.
The first arrest in this case came on 15th December, when a 28 year old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. There were two further arrests on 19th December. Two men, one aged 20 and the other 28, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three were released on bail, remaining under investigation.
The woman arrested in Oxford was interviewed by police and then released on bail while the police investigation continues. She is to return to the police to answer bail next month.
