Undeclared allergens force Gü frozen dessert recall

A GÜ frozen dessert has been recalled because it contains hazelnuts and soya, but these ingredients are not listed on the label.

The affected product is the Gü Double Sea Salted Caramel Frozen dessert. It comes as a double pack of 85g desserts. The lot number is 126135 and the best before date is 30th June 2027.

Unlisted ingredients have forced product recalls several times over the last few months, with different manufacturers involved. One can only wonder how it is that ingredients which to into a food product can be forgotten about when it comes to labelling. Does it ever happen the other way round? Does a dessert production line worker ever seal a jar and realise that earlier on the production line someone forgot to add the sugar?

Fortunately these mistakes have been acknowledged and the product recalls mitigate the risk of someone having a serious, even fatal, reaction.

If you have bought this product and you have an allergy to hazelnuts and/or soya, you are advised not to eat it.  Make sure that no one who comes into your home and may have an allergy eats it either. Take the product back to the shop where you bought it and you should receive a full refund. It is not necessary for you to produce the receipt.
