Peanut bar was wrapped in toffee bar wrapper

A BIG mistake by Halo Foods Limited could have ended in tragedy. Their Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars were accidentally wrapped in Skinny Whip Toffee bar wrappers – so peanuts were not included in the list of ingredients on the wrapper.

This is especially serious as peanut allergies can cause serious reactions in someone who is exposed to peanuts and can even be fatal. Halo Foods has recalled the bars and put up notices in shops selling the product. It has also tried to publicise the problem via peanut allergy organisations.

The affected bars were supplied to some Sainsbury’s and ASDA stores. They come in a box of five 20g bars showing the batch code 6238 (08:30 – 10:30) and a best before date of August 2027.

If you have bought this product and you have an allergy to peanuts, do not eat it. Take it back to the shop from which you bought it, and you should receive a full refund. You are advised to return the product even if you do not have an allergy.  If you keep it in your home, visitors, especially children, may help themselves to the product after checking the wrapper and believing it is safe for them to eat.
