Tower Hamlets is to have a summer of fun

HAVE FUN… or else! is the message coming from Tower Hamlets Council. Their press release showcasing activities and events available to residents this summer is quite exhausting.

There are events for residents of all ages. You have “opportunities to come together, make lasting memories, try something new, get active, explore local history and celebrate everything there is to love about Tower Hamlets.” That’s quite an ask. Of course it’s very welcome that there are so many activities – many, if not all of them, free. But there is a slight feeling that they have turned the Borough into a giant Butlins.

Here are some highlights:
•Large scale family fun days hosted by council parks and children and family centres teams at Mile End Park Children’s Park and Whitehorse Open Space.
•The fun filled days out will include sport, arts and crafts, smoothie bikes, soft play and much more.
•Hands-on gardening sessions, where children can learn how fruit and vegetables grow, harvest fresh produce and discover the wonders of nature.
•Read to the Beat Summer Reading Challenge, Lego Build the Change creative tasks, special events and more at borough Idea Stores and libraries.
•Young Tower Hamlets, Tower Hamlets youth service will host a variety of workshops, trips, socials, sports sessions and more for young people.
•Four days of free entertainment for all ages as part of In The Neighbourhood with All Points East, featuring live music, theatre, sports and family activities.
