Newham-based charity joins King Charles at special reception for community groups

Sisters Forum, a grassroots organisation dedicated to empowering women and supporting families in Newham, was recently invited to Buckingham Palace for a prestigious reception hosted by King Charles III. The event recognised community groups making a profound difference in the lives of people across the UK. Volunteers at Sisters Forum have worked steadfastly to uplift and support families and women in need.

The reception highlighted the efforts of charities and organisations like Sisters Forum, that has helped improve the lives of over 10,000 women through education, mentorship, and direct community assistance. Sisters Forum was acknowledged for its unwavering commitment to addressing the challenges faced by women, including domestic abuse, economic hardship, mental health struggles, and social isolation.

Operating in Newham, one of London’s most diverse boroughs, Sisters Forum provides crucial services to women from all backgrounds. Their initiatives range from support groups and workshops to legal and financial guidance for those experiencing hardship.

Many of the women they assist are facing cultural and societal barriers that hinder their ability to gain independence and security.

The organisation also works closely with families, providing parenting support, mental health awareness programmes, and community-building activities. By offering a safe space for women and their families, Sisters Forum fosters resilience and promotes self-sufficiency.

Women in marginalised communities often deal with complex issues such as domestic violence, financial instability, lack of access to education, and cultural barriers to employment. Sisters Forum has been instrumental in bridging these gaps by offering tailored support that addresses the unique challenges these women encounter.

Speaking about the honour of being invited to Buckingham Palace, Sabia Kamali of Sisters Forum said, “This recognition is not just for Sisters Forum but for every woman we have supported. It is a testament to the strength and resilience of the women in our community. Being invited to Buckingham Palace highlights the importance of the work we do and reaffirms our commitment to empowering women, strengthening families, and creating a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive.”

As Sisters Forum continues its mission, the recognition from Buckingham Palace serves as a powerful reminder of the vital role grassroots organisations play in shaping stronger, more inclusive communities.
