Neighbours in Poplar offers fun and calls for volunteers

Emdad Rahman reports that local grassroots charity Neighbours in Poplar (NiP) is promoting a number of events during Inter Faith Week, which runs from 16th-22nd November.

On Tuesday, 17th November, from 6pm-7.30pm, there will be a Three Creeds Evening at Our Lady & St. Joseph’s School (Poplar), Wades Place, E14. There will be short presentations, with speakers including Leon Silver and Damian Howard, followed by buffet.

Churches Together in Poplar have organised a shared lunch on Thursday, 19th November  from 12 noon to 1pm at the Salvation Army Centre in Kerbey Street, Poplar E14.

There will also be a Families Together Fun Day on Sunday, 22nd November, from 3pm to 5pm at St. Matthias Community Centre. There will be a bouncy castle, entertainment and refreshments, and everyone is welcome.

NiP is also thinking ahead and is asking for volunteers to help them deliver the following major projects:
Christmas and New Year Meal Deliveries to hundreds of local people living alone;
Summer schemes for needy children and families;
Winter’s night shelter for the Homeless at St. Matthias Community Centre;
Various projects with Linkage.
