Ilford special constable sentenced for fraud

A FORMER special constable appeared at Southwark Crown Court on 14th August and pleaded guilty to a charge of committing fraud by abuse of position. He is Moshin Nadeem, 27, of Babbacombe Gardens, Ilford.

The Court heard that Nadeem used to work for a large department store chain and he defrauded his employer of just under £9,000 between June and November 2017. Nadeem was ordered to do 150 hours’ unpaid work and undertake a ten day rehabilitation activity. He was also given a four month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

Nadeem used to be a special constable, but he resigned in September 2018. The Metropolitan Police Directorate of Professional Standards will now carry out a gross misconduct review.
