Guns heard in Hackney

POLICE HAVE appealed to the public for help following an incident in or near Cresset House, Retreat Place, E9 at around 7.35pm on 13th June in which local residents heard gunshots.

Police, including firearms officers, attended the scene as soon as the reports came in. Fortunately, no injured people were found – but there was ballistic damage to a number of parked vehicles, and spent casings were found nearby.

The incident is now being investigated by Trident detectives from the Specialist Crime unit, who would like to hear from anyone who heard the shots.

Detective Inspector Matthew Webb said, “We have been told that a car was seen speeding away from the area shortly after the shots were fired. Did you see this car, or its occupants? There is only one way in and out the location, but where did it go next?

“This shooting occurred within an estate and we know that a number of people were out that evening; it is perhaps only by chance that no one was injured. I am certain that there are still people who are yet to come forward. It is vital that we identify those responsible, so please call us.”

Anyone who has any information which might assist police is asked to call officers on 020-7230 9737 and quote reference Operation Fallin or via 101, in which case they should quote reference CAD 6860/13Jun. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111 and give information anonymously.
