A CYCLIST is fighting for his life after colliding with a car in Aylward Street in Stepney Green. The driver of the car has been arrested.
It was late on Thursday, 6th August when the emergency services were called out by reports that there had been a collision. The London Ambulance Service arrived first. They found a man in his 50s and were able to give him priority treatment.
The police arrived soon after the ambulance. They arrested the driver, 33, on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop and being unfit to drive through drink or drugs. The driver was later named as Parvez Rahman from Tower Hamlets.
Rahman was later charged with attempted murder and failing to stop after a road accident. He appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on 8th August, where he was remanded in custody and ordered to appear at the Old Bailey on 4th September.
