Cyclist critical after Dagenham collision

A SERIOUS collision with a car last night has put a cyclist in an East London hospital, where he is in a critical condition. The police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The emergency services were called out just before 10.30pm last night (Saturday, 10th August) to the junction between Valence Avenue and Green Lane in Dagenham.

The London Ambulance Service took the cyclist to hospital. He is believed to be in his 20s and police are now trying to find and inform his next of kin.

The police arrested the driver of the motor vehicle involved in the collision at the scene of the accident. He was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any other information about it is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit via 101 and to quote CAD7749/10Aug. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111 and give information anonymously.
