Limehouse Boxing Academy hosts End of year awards

Emdad Rahman

A GROUNDBREAKING Boxing Academy in the heart of East London celebrated another successful year of coaching local youngsters with an evening of food and celebration to highlight the fantastic achievements of boxing trainees.

The Limehouse Boxing Academy has been offering free boxing classes to local youngsters for a number of years. Young people participate in training sessions up to five times a week and are also funded to travel as a team to national boxing camps to meet other aspiring boxers and established coaches. The Academy is led by Shah Rahman and Mark Collings – two outstanding coaches of international repute. The dynamic duo have served the community through delivering top end boxing training sessions consistently for a number of years.

The evening, held at Efes restaurant, was about giving recognition to the boxers and participants for their hard work and dedication. Joint Head Coach Rahman said, “Recognising achievements is huge for us and we not only focus on skills in boxing but also other qualities such as leadership.” His colleague Collings added, “We constantly promote civic participation and we are greatly looking forward to an even more productive year ahead. Well done everybody.”

Ismael Rahman was one of the award winners of the night and paid a glowing tribute to his coaches. “Mark and Shah have been so important in helping to add discipline and focus in my life. I’ve become leaner, fitter and my confidence is good and I want to thank my coaches for this. The best thing about them is the way they encourage young people like me to get involved in our community.”
