Greenlight Youth Club in Bow Road is run by Tower Hamlets Council and provides a range of exciting activities and courses for young people aged 13-19 (and up to 25 for those with special educational needs). Activities on offer include hair and beauty workshops, boxing, cooking and DJ courses – plus trips out.
Now young people who use the club have helped to organise a community fun day on Saturday, 21st June, starting at 2pm. It will be a family-friendly day with events to suit all ages, including a bouncy castle, face painting, barbecue, arts and crafts activities, henna painting and music.
Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman said: “This is a nice opportunity for the residents to come together and support the young people who use this facility. Youth centres play a vital role in ensuring teenagers have a safe place to socialise and access to positive activities.”
The council has more than 40 outlets which provide youth services in the borough all year round. Investment in the youth service brings the rewards of reducing youth crime and finding young people who are not in education, at work or in training and who might need a hand to get back engaged with one of these routes.
