AS THE SCHOOL holidays approach, parents will be planning what to do with their littles – and going out often means eating out. Gone are the healthy, free school lunches, and in are the fast food joints on the high street.
Do children in East London need any encouragement to eat more burgers, nuggets and chips? Just in case, US burger joint Wendy’s has come up with a special offer to keep the young ones demanding their fast food. It’s the 35th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, so Wendy’s has launched a special kids’ meal collection featuring the hedgehog and introducing it to a new generation.
Until 2nd August, every Wendy’s Kids’ Meal includes a pack of five Sonic-themed cards. There’s 35 cards to collect in all – bound to make the kids badger you for repeat trips.
Of course there are some minor down sides. Generally, Wendy’s do not serve halal food, so that’s a good number of East London residents ruled out from the start. The second drawback is that there are very few outlets in East London, so it’s either a trip to Stratford or a takeaway order. We did try to look at prices and calorie counts, but after half an hour relentless googling, we couldn’t find this information online.
If you want to encourage your child to collect Sonic cards, head for Stratford. If you think you can manage without yet another small toy/card/thing to clutter the flat, you may want to grill some fish fingers at home.
