Tories in Tower Hamlets

The Conservative Way Forward (CWF) quotes David Cameron on their website, saying that CWF is “The largest and most effective pressure group within the Conservative movement today.” CWF had a day of action on the Isle of Dogs last year, in support of Cllr Peter Golds, the Tory candidate in the Tower Hamlets mayoral election. Sit down – and listen to their rally in a local pub.
For the record: Cllr Peter Golds went on to win only 5,940 of the 68,138 votes cast – with Labour’s John Biggs and Lutfur Rahman’s Cabinet Member Cllr Rabina Khan neck and neck after the first round. However, the second preferences of Tory voters went overwhelmingly to John Biggs, causing him to win the election.
