A MAN HAS died in a fire in a first floor flat in Ellsworth Street, Bethnal Green. The death was confirmed by the London Fire Brigade.
The fire was reported to the Brigade at 3.46am. Firefighters from Whitechapel and Shadwell fire stations attended immediately and the fire was under control by 4.09am.
However, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus searched the property and found the victim. He was declared dead at the scene.
The flat was damaged by the fire. Firefighters are now investigating the cause of the fire.
