A WOMAN in her 20s has left a Romford hospital, shortly after giving birth. Police were called in at 5pm on 30th December, and they are now searching for the missing mum as they are concerned for her welfare.
Mum’s baby is in good health and is being cared for at the hospital where the baby was born. She will need medical care following on from the birth – and care to deal with whatever problems prompted her to walk away.
Detective Inspector Neil Godwin, who is leading the search, stressed that police are not conducting a criminal investigation, but they do want to make sure that the woman is all right. He appealed for members of the public to come forward if they have any information about the missing woman, or where she may be.
Mum is described as in her 20s and of slim build. She has dark hair. When she was last seen she was wearing a light-coloured top and a patterned skirt.
The appeal is all the more poignant as it comes after police wound down their search for a woman who gave birth to three babies, years apart, and left them in a Newham park. Officers explained that the trail had gone cold, after several years of searching.
