Does your Christmas present look familiar?

Over a third admit to re-gifting at Christmas

November 2012 – According to a national poll from online fashion store GetTheLabel.com, a staggering 48% of respondents said they prefer to receive surprise gifts at Christmas rather than gift vouchers or money.

The leading online retailer ran the online poll to find out what Brits really think about gifting and surprises at Christmas.

Over a third (38%) of those polled said they had re-gifted a present at Christmas, despite running the risk of giving it back to the person who originally bought it.

When questioned on Christmas spending habits, over 22% said they plan to spend between £200 – £300 this year, compared to the previous Christmas where the majority of respondents (27.3%) spent over £500 on Christmas presents.

Almost half of those polled (46.5%) said they don’t save during the run up to Christmas, with only a third (32.3%) saving for a period of one to three months before December 25th.

Partners came out on top as the most popular person to spend the most on at Christmas, with over a third (39.4%) admitting this, closely followed by second favourite, Mum (22.2%).

There is a clear sense of need to spend more on mothers than fathers at Christmas with only 9.1% saying they spend the most on their dad during the festive season.

A mere 3% said they are most likely to spend the most on their brother or grandparents this Christmas.

With the findings suggesting that almost half of respondents wanting a surprise at Christmas, GetTheLabel.com has launched a social media campaign to bring the surprise back to Christmas.

With up to 70% off top high street brands, shoppers can expect to find something to surprise all loved ones this festive season.
