The Mighty Tigers have stormed to glory, clinching the 2025 Midweek Division One Victoria Park Community Cricket League (VPCCL) title in spectacular fashion. Played with the distinctive pink ball, the 8-a-side format has thrilled crowds at Victoria Park for over forty years, and this season, the Tigers roared the loudest.
Their campaign was built on skill, consistency, and an unshakeable team spirit. Imon Ahmed provided explosive b bowling and batting at the top of the order, Hassan Ahmed led from the front with astute captaincy and key all round performances, while Shumon Sharif delivered decisive spells with the ball. Emdad Hussain Tipu rolled back the years with match winning contributions when it mattered most.
The title may be secured, but the job isn’t done. The Tigers are now eyeing an even bigger prize – the Bert Vandermark Cup Final. If they win, they will make history by becoming the first team in a decade to claim both the league and the cup in the same year.
Manager Hassan Ahmed was beaming after lifting the trophy: “This is a proud day for everyone connected to the Mighty Tigers. The boys have been outstanding all season, but we’re not finished yet. We have one more mountain to climb and a chance to make history.”
As the summer evenings continue to echo with the sound of leather on willow, the Mighty Tigers’ 2025 season could soon become legendary.
