Beanibazar Cancer Hospital and Sporting Club partnership announced

Emdad Rahman

Beanibazar Sporting Club UK (BSCUK) and Beanibazar Cancer Hospital (BBCH) have teamed up to work on a whole host of ideas and expertise to complement the fantastic current team and enable the hospital to move forward with its charitable aims.

The Beani Bazar Cancer Hospital is a charity based in the UK that aims to create awareness and provide medical treatment for disadvantaged cancer patients in Bangladesh. In particular, the charity aims to:

erect and maintain a fully-resourced hospital in the greater area of Beani Bazar, Sylhet, Bangladesh to prevent, diagnose and treat many forms of cancer; raise public awareness; provide information relating to healthcare and cancer.

Beanibazar Sporting Club UK Vice Chair Mahbub Ahmed said, “This is a great partnership and a natural one. It will highlight the amazing services that the Hospital will provide and nurture an interest from parts of the community that have been hard to reach.”

In attendance at the meeting where he made his comments were M. Shab Uddin, Fokrul Islam, Forhad Hussain Tipu, Abdul Samad, Ali Abdul Rofe, Kamal Chowdhury, Hamid Yusuf, Emdad Rahman.

Shab Uddin, CEO and Managing Director of Beanibazar Cancer Hospital, said, “Sport is a tremendous way to bring people together and I am greatly excited at the prospect of this partnership and looking forward at how we can all pool our ideas to make this benevolent project sustainable.”

There are currently over 1 million people living with cancer in Bangladesh. This number is growing, with an estimated 200,000 new cancer patients each year. Sadly, there is very little specialist cancer care. Outside the capital city, there is very little specialist help, and only 15,000 patients receive proper medical treatment each year. That means that over 98% of cancer patients in Bangladesh aren’t receiving the treatment they need.
