Parsloes Park in Dagenham came alive as the Bobby Moore Hub played host to the Beanibazar Super Cup, a vibrant celebration of football, friendship, and community heritage.

Twelve teams from across the Bangladeshi diaspora gathered to contest the prestigious title, representing proud villages and neighbourhoods: Angura Muhammad Pur, Bairaghi, Balinga, Ghungadia, Gobindasree, Jaldhup, Nobang, Kokordia, Mathizura, Nalbohor Jatrasha, Deulgram, and Purushpal.

The grand final saw Bairaghi face a determined Angura Muhammad Pur side. Under sunny skies and the roar of a passionate crowd, Bairaghi produced a disciplined, high energy performance, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Ash Rahman and Tanveer Sheikh.

For Bairaghi, it was a day to remember. The backbone of their campaign was goalkeeper Humayen Ahmed (Raju), voted Player of the Tournament by the organisers for his commanding presence between the posts.

At the other end, Ash Rahman, Beanibazar football legend and an Inner London Football League World Cup winner, showcased why he remains one of the finest forwards in community football. His sharp movement, vision, and clinical finishing not only brought him the tournament’s Top Scorer award but also inspired his teammates to lift their game in every match.

Bairaghi FC manager Faz Rahman was full of praise for his side: “The lads gave everything today. We played as one family, and that unity was the difference. Every player deserves credit for this win.”

Assistant manager Mahbubul Islam added: “This is all about pride, culture, and showing the next generation what teamwork can achieve.”

Tournament organisers Mamunur Rashid, Ruhul Amin and Shumon Rahman paid tribute to all the teams: “Today has been a showcase of the very best of our community spirit. From first kick to final whistle, it’s been about passion, respect, and togetherness. Congratulations to Bairaghi FC, our worthy champions!”

The organisers also extended their gratitude to the sponsors, whose support ensured the events success and helped sustain the legacy of community tournaments that bring people together across generations.

Beanibazar is a subdistrict in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh, known for its lush landscapes and strong cultural traditions. Its football heritage stretches back decades, with diaspora communities in the UK using the sport to preserve identity, strengthen friendships, and mentor young talent.

The Beanibazar Super Cup is a living bridge between the past and the future, a reminder of the unifying power of sport.

As the sun set over Parsloes Park, Bairaghi FC’s players celebrated with their supporters, hoisting the trophy high. For this group of friends, brothers, and role models, it was a moment etched into the history of Beanibazar football and a proud chapter in the story of community sport in Britain.
