A CAREFUL operation carried out by the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Command last month led to a car being stopped near Aldgate East Tube station and its passenger being arrested.
The arrest came when police officers found 2.5 kilos of cocaine in his rucksack – and around £50,000 in cash. The passenger, a 25 year old man, was arrested on suspicion of intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property.
Police officers went on to make inquiries at three addresses linked to their suspect. At one property, police arrived as a man was leaving. Police stopped him and searched the suitcase he was carrying – finding a further two and a half kilos of cocaine and around £35,000 in cash. That man, aged 34, was also arrested on suspicion of intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property.
The investigation continues.
