The Day of Judgement

By Dramanullah Ashru

When I shall stand before God,
Alone and only alone myself
shall be accountable for what
I did in this life, bad or good, plus or minus.
No one will and can help help me.
‘”Save myself” ‘will be the cry all around.
Every one will be busy with oneself.

Father will not and cannot plead for loving children.
Similarly mother will not and cannot
plead for her sons and daughters.
Husband for wife can do nothing.
Wife will not be able to plead for loving husband.
Children can nor beg mercy for parents.
That will be a such
a place, the day of judgement.

What will be my defence?
Oh, God, my defence is
your greatness, glorify to praise.
I am speechless, defenceless.
Oh God, forgive, forgive me
on the day of judgement.
