The BAFTA Cymru winning film Convenience is released in UK cinemas tomorrow, 2nd October. The British comedy will be out on DVD and on on-demand services on Monday, 5th October. It’s a buddy move, starring Vicky McClure, Adeel Akhtar, Ray Panthaki, Anthony Head and Verne Troyer and it’s directed by BAFTA-winning Keri Collins.
The two buddies, Ajay and Shaan, try to rob a convenience store – desperate to raised enough cash to settle a debt they have inadvertently racked up to some Russian strip club owners. Unfortunately after taking the staff hostage, they realise the safe won’t open until 6am. Desperate and with their lives on the line, they decide they must work in the store all night to avoid anyone raising the alarm before they get their money.
At first they struggle to deal with the feisty Levi, the police, a suicidal businessman, a dwarf cowboy and a variety of odd characters who frequent the store throughout the night. As the night wears on, the heist begins to unravel and they are faced with either being arrested by the authorities or killed by the Russians.
Producer, actor and current BAFTA “Breakthrough Brit” Ray Panthaki said, “We set out to make a fresh, edgy and very different kind of British comedy that could hold its own internationally, and we feel we’ve achieved that with real indie spirit.”
