STEPNEY FC have added another chapter to their extraordinary footballing history by winning the BFA Vets summer league.
A 2-0 victory over SYA secured the title today after Russell Choudhury assisted for the evergreen Mufi Uddin to score the first goal. Despite a sending off for marauding full back Shane Baptiste, Stepney were still too strong and Harun Rashid sealed the win with a neat finish.
Stepney wrap up the title with three games still to play and a measly defence has seen only four goals conceded so far. First team manager Shofiqul Islam said, “It has been a tremendous season and the players have just been superb throughout. I’m proud of what we have achieved today.”
Khoyrul Shaheed from charity partner Human Relief Foundation added, “Stepney are a brand name in community football and the squad are immersed in charitable activities involving different parts of our community. Well done to the team and I wish everyone greater success.”
BFA chair Aroz Miah commented, “This League is made up of the best of the best. The football has been outstanding throughout with players looking sharp and incisive. Well done to Stepney on winning the league so convincingly.”
