St John Ambulance recognises Tower Hamlets heroes

St John Ambulance has recognised ordinary people who have done extraordinary things in the City of London and Tower Hamlets. Twenty-six volunteers were recognised at an award giving ceremony held on 23rd February in Barber Surgeons’ Hall in central London.

All 26 St John Ambulance volunteers attended the event with their families and friends. Twenty-two of them were among the first to be presented with new national certificates and badges recognising three, six and nine years’ service to the public in London. These people are local life-savers – community heroes who have used first aid to help other members of the public.

Five community heroes from Tower Hamlets received recognition for their extraordinary work. They are Thomas Baday, Daniel Jackson, Susan Williams, Richard Bradley and Shirin Jisha, who is the first person of Bangladeshi heritage to receive this recognition for service as a First Aider. Tower Hamlets winners were accompanied by Keith Burman, Paul Herbage and Rex Thorn as guests.
