Sylhet Upazila Cup Is Back

The anticipation is building as the Sonali Othith Greater Sylhet Upazila Cup Vets Tournament makes its much awaited return to the Bobby Moore Sports Hub, Parsloes Park, bringing together 16 veteran teams proudly representing the Upazilas of Sylhet.

The tournament, renowned for its competitive spirit and rich cultural heritage, will once again showcase the very best of Sylheti footballing talent and community togetherness.

All eyes will be on whether Bishwanath can secure a historic fifth title. Sylhet Sadar, with their emerging and hungry squad, will be looking to make a statement, while Jagannathpur hope to write their own piece of history by completing a remarkable domestic hat trick, having already won the Open Age Upazila Cup and the Birmingham Vets crown in succession.

Chairman of Sonali Othith, Tower Hamlets Speaker Suluk Ahmed, expressed his excitement ahead of kick off:

“This tournament is all about heritage, identity, and unity. Our veterans inspire the younger generations, and Mabley Green is the perfect stage for this celebration of our community’s passion.”

Joynal Abdin Miah, General Secretary of Sonali Othith, echoed those sentiments: “Every year, the Vets Cup brings together old friends and rivals in a spirit of respect and competition. It’s a reminder of how football bridges generations and strengthens the bonds of our Sylheti roots.”
