Scintilla made it seven wins in a row as Bow Green were mercilessly crushed by a huge 89 runs. Scintilla batted first. The run rate was dry in the opening 15 overs, mainly due to clever attacking from Bow Green along with a damp wicket. Scintilla lost three wickets in quick succession in the first five overs.
Ashraful Islam and Ashfaqur Rahman Nobel failed to continue their recent impressive form with the willow, and both were caught out cheaply. Scintilla CC captain Faris Almas-Lee Rosmanizam and Abul Hasib managed to keep the innings steady. Both played a sensible, no frills partnership which led to a fourth wicket partnership of 73 runs. Scintilla skipper Rosmanizam pulled a loose delivery by R. Coulson and only managed to find a fielder at short fine leg who gleefully took a simple catch.
Tariqul Islam Tushar and Ahmed Choudhury were next to walk. Hasib, though, was dominant throughout his entire innings as he powered to 93 runs before being bowled out by Mairi in the 38th over. Bellal Hossain at number eight displayed clean hitting with three powerful fours and four towering sixes in his scores. He finished with 46 not out. Hossain and his batting partner Tanvir Priyam (27 runs not out) gave Scintilla CC some breathing space as both reached 80 runs from the last five overs of the team’s innings.
Scintilla CC managed to reach 248 in 42 overs with the loss of 8 wickets. The only outstanding bowler from Bow Green CC was N. Myrie, taking four wickets and giving away 65 runs from his allocation of nine overs. Acknowledging the fact that Bow Green CC has a good track record against Scintilla CC in run chases, this was not the moment for Scintilla CC to rest.
Bow Green CC started aggressively with both openers, B. Goldson and R. Coulson, hitting huge sixes over the boundaries. However, Scintilla CC adapted well and the bowlers were clever enough to change the field settings and pace of their deliveries. Abul Hasib excelled with his bowling too as he picked up four wickets in his first six-over spell and another wicket at the end of the innings, making it a five-wicket haul for him. Hasib introduced variations of pace and swings, making it hard for the opposition to dominate him. Priyam from the other end looked unsettled though, giving away expensive runs and extras from his four overs bowled.
Bow Green CC skipper, Keith Browne did not go down easily. He fought his way to a respectable 49 while watching his partners departing in a consistent rhythm. Shahen Prince was introduced to bowl during the latter stages of the game and he proved to be lethal, picking up three wickets and conceding only 22 runs in his seven overs. There was superb fielding from Rosmanizam as he took four excellent catches in the field. Bow Green CC were bundled out for 159 runs with 9.4 overs to spare. Abul Hasib was declared the man of the match for his performances with both bat and ball.
Captain Rosmanizam said: “Another good show from the players. Nevertheless, there are talking points that need to be taken into consideration. Our top order batsmen have not found consistency and the bowlers are still giving away too many extras. We should work on these areas to produce even better results.”
