CHRISTMAS DINNER went to plan at St James the Less Church in Bethnal Green – with the customary support of Muslim Aid.
Volunteers from the local charity showed off their kitchen skills by helping to plate up servings of turkey and trimmings for elderly members of the church community.
After the guests had enjoyed their Christmas lunch, volunteers from Muslim Aid handed out Keep Warm Kits, which included staples such as extra blankets and hot water bottles.
Fatema Mawji, one of the volunteers, told The Independent that helping out at events like this made her feel “like a better person”. She doesn’t celebrate Christmas herself, but she still sees the time of year as a time to do some practical charity work.
