DON’T DELAY if you want to become Jim Fitzpatrick’s new parliamentary assistant. The Labour MP for Poplar & Limehouse has put the message out on Twitter that he is looking for someone to join his office in the House of Commons.
And he’s not hanging about dithering over the vacancy. The vacancy is advertised on the Working for an MP (w4mp) website: it was posted on 20th May, and the closing date for applications is 2pm on 24th May (tomorrow), with interviews due to be held on 3rd June.
The MP so cruelly dubbed “Dim Jim” by the Daily Telegraph after he oversaw the last Labour Government’s Post Office closure programme is offering a full-time post. The lucky candidate will handle the full range of duties needed to support an MP, from dealing with casework through to preparing correspondence and parliamentary briefings.
