The Shahjalal Jamia Islamia School & College, Sylhet Alumni UK Cricket Team have taken the Nirman School Cricket Legends Trophy UK 2025 by storm, producing a flawless group stage campaign to charge into the finals unbeaten and brimming with confidence.
Led by the Jamia Cricketers Association UK, the green army from Jamia swept aside all three of their opponents in commanding fashion, sealing the Group Champion title and announcing themselves as the team to beat in this year’s tournament.
Match 1: Jamia vs Blue Bird High School & College
In a statement opening performance, Jamia’s bowlers ran riot. Blue Bird were skittled out for just 60 runs, with Mehdi Abbas delivering a devastating spell to claim Player of the Match and Best Bowler honours. The chase was a formality as Jamia cruised to an 8 wicket victory in only 7.3 overs.
Match 2: Jamia vs The Aided High School
A textbook all round display was in order as Jamia posted 125 runs, before once again letting their bowling do the talking. Aided High crumbled to 73 all out, with Mehdi Abbas starring again, collecting his second consecutive Player of the Match award.
Jamia won by 52 runs, stamping their authority as tournament front runners.
Match 3: Jamia vs Sylhet Government Pilot High School
A nail biter for the ages! Sylhet Government Pilot posted a formidable 153/4, but Jamia responded with heart, grit, and nerve. Maruf Ahmed emerged a hero, smashing a game-defining half century, steering Jamia to victory on the very last ball, with just one wicket in hand.
Contributions from Amdadur Rashid Masum and Mahfuz Choudhury were vital in this thriller.
“It was all about setting the tone, and the boys did that brilliantly,” said coach Monzur Haque. “Mehdi was unplayable – calm, focused, and clinical.
“That chase tested our spirit, and we showed what it means to be Jamia – fight till the last ball.”
With their heads held high, spirits sky high, and form peaking at just the right time, Jamia now march into the final. One more win separates them from glory.
