Jagannathpur edged Chattak in the latest Greater Sylhet friendly at Mabley Green.
Jagannathpur have been in red hot form during their friendlies and the boys in white held true to form, racing into a 2-0 lead at half time courtesy of Goffar and Jamal.
Mujahid Hussain rested some key players to test out some of his fringe players for the second half. Chattak also made changes, and this worked in their favour as the livewire Masud Miah of Poplar Legends pulled back a consolation goal to reduce the deficit. Jagannathpur, however were too strong and held on to win 2-1.
Chattak manager Shiraz Miah said, “It was a tough game for us. I have no doubt that Jagannathpur will be amongst the tournament favourites next week.”
Jagannathpur Manager Mujahid Hussain added, “Reputation means nothing and as you saw tonight Chattak gave us a hard game. We won, which is the important thing and I’m happy with how things are shaping up.”
•In a separate game against Rajnagor, Jagannathpur fielded their second string side. Rajnagor won the game 1-0.
