After the holy month of Ramadan, the joy and celebrations of Eid bring the family together. But orphan children have no parents to spend Eid with. They miss out on the full enjoyment of the day – and, as well as missing sharing the special day with a loving family, they also miss out on the presents. That’s why the Human Relief Foundation has launched a special appeal to collect gifts to distribute to orphaned refugees when Eid comes.
The Human Relief Foundation is based in Bradford, at the heart of England – but its own heart extends internationally. Launched in 1991, it seeks to promote sustainable economic and social development, supporting local communities to build a better life and find their own solutions to global problems.
The name “What Dad Used To Do” was chosen for this campaign after a young orphan was given a gift by Human Relief Foundation’s team in Jordan. The little boy took his gift and told the charity workers, “This is what dad used to do.”
Dr Nabeel Al Ramadhani, President of HRF, said: “Our project to provide gifts for orphans is important in our vision at Human Relief Foundation. Many children suffer the loss of their parent or parents, and we must not forget about them. Our ‘What Dad Used To Do’ campaign will ease their burdens this Eid, a time of happiness and joy.”
