A team from the UK-based charity Human Relief Foundation (HRF) has returned from visiting various locations in Jordan to distribute aid to the most vulnerable refugees. Volunteers handed out school stationery kits to young children in Madaba, distributed over 200 blankets in Amman and packed and distributed 150 bags of locally-sourced food to needy families at a community centre in Ajloun. These food packs contained items such as rice, sugar, tuna, spaghetti, cheese, tea, dates and other essentials.
The team visited an orphanage where they helped organise a “fun day” for children and orphans and also visited the Za’atari refugee camp which is one of the world’s largest refugee camps to assess the situation and speak to refugee families. Afterwards, the team visited refugee families in camps nearby Za’atari in the Um Ejimaal area.
HRF team members included London based Khoyrul Shaheed, Nazim Tasadiq (HRF Midlands & the North West) and Deputy CEO Kassim Tokan. Khoyrul Shaheed said: “The experience has been something we will not be able to erase from our memories. These are proud people who have lost all their worldly belongings and are now living in these camps. Many are educated and enjoyed a life of comfort. There are so many orphaned children and many who have suffered immeasurable trauma after witnessing the horrors of what is happening in their homeland. I urge everyone to offer their support to our fellow humans.”
