Cricket has long been a game of tradition, patience and passion, and for MJ Hasan that lifelong love for the sport has reached a proud new milestone.

Hasan has been accepted as a Candidate Member of the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), based at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

The historic club, widely regarded as the spiritual home of cricket, confirmed his candidacy following a successful interview with members of its Panel of Endorsers.

In a letter from Head of Membership Alan Bates, Hasan was congratulated on reaching the next stage of the MCC membership process – a significant recognition for a passionate supporter of the game.

Hasan’s journey with cricket began at just six years old. By his own admission he often missed the ball in those early days, but his enthusiasm for the sport never faded.

After moving to London, he became deeply involved in grassroots cricket, co-founding Super Nova Cricket Club with friends before launching and managing London Vikings.

Under his guidance the team quickly built a reputation in community cricket circles.

A driving force behind his cricket development has been mentor and supporter Shahidul Alam Ratan, whose encouragement helped Hasan gain recognition within cricket networks.

Speaking about the achievement, Hasan said:
“I’m delighted to share that I have become a Candidate Member of the Marylebone Cricket Club at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

“Cricket has always been part of my life. Life changes, but cricket doesn’t. It began as a hobby, became an obsession and now it’s a lifelong passion.”

Hasan believes the honour reflects not just personal dedication but also the importance of community cricket in nurturing future players.

Looking ahead, he hopes to continue contributing to the sport at higher levels and dreams of being involved with global cricket structures such as the International Cricket Council one day.

From childhood enthusiasm to recognition at the home of cricket, Hasan’s journey shows how passion for the game can open remarkable doors.
