England selectors have announced a 15-man squad for the Royal London One Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan starting on Wednesday, 24th August at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton.
The Durham pair of Ben Stokes and Mark Wood have been included – both having responded positively to treatment for their recent injuries.
•Stokes has recovered from tearing his calf muscle while bowling in the third Investec Test against Pakistan at the Emirates Old Trafford late last month. He has 39 ODI appearances behind him – the last against South Africa in Cape Town in February.
•Wood has not played for England since sustaining an ankle injury in last winter’s series against Pakistan in the UAE, which required two operations. He has made an impressive return in recent weeks with both Durham and England Lions.
England’s squad includes two more players who have been sidelined by injury in recent weeks.
•Wicketkeeper Jos Buttler has not played since suffering a fractured thumb while playing for Lancashire at Worcester on 8th July.
•Captain Eoin Morgan chipped a bone in his little finger during a Royal London One-Day Cup match in Taunton on 26th July.
Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson is the only uncapped player in the squad. He made an impressive international debut in the NatWest IT20 against Sri Lanka at his home county ground the Ageas Bowl in July.
