Burdett FC Super Cup 25

On Saturday 23rd August 2025, Burdett FC will host the Super Cup 25, a 7-a-side football tournament at St Paul’s Way Trust School in Tower Hamlets. Running from 10am to 3pm, the event is open to players aged 16 and over, with an entry fee of £50 per team.

The tournament is backed by Spotlight and Poplar HARCA and offers a day of competitive football as well as promoting an anti knife crime initiative, using the power of sport to spread a positive message at a time when London continues to face a surge in youth violence.

A spokesperson from Burdett FC explained the motivation behind the event: “Knife crime has devastated too many families in our city. Football gives young people a reason to come together, build friendships, and focus on something positive. This tournament is about sending a clear message that we can choose community over conflict.”

London has seen a troubling rise in knife related incidents over the past decade, with many victims under 25. In boroughs like Tower Hamlets, community leaders have worked tirelessly to provide safe spaces and opportunities for young people to stay engaged and away from dangerous situations.

The day will feature competitive matches, trophies for the winners, a BBQ, and refreshments for spectators. More than a dozen teams are expected to compete, with the event’s “space is limited” warning prompting early registrations.

The Burdett FC Super Cup blends football with a strong social mission. In the words of one player, “We’re not just playing for silverware, we’re playing for change.”
