Broadgate hosts StreetVelodrome

On 12th and 13th August, for the second year running, Broadgate’s Exchange Square will be transformed into a heart pounding theatre of cycle sport when a pop-up velodrome will appear as part of Broadgate’s Summer Live season. Entrance is free and all equipment is provided.

Track cycling is open to the public on Wednesday 12th August from 10am-1pm and 3-6pm. No booking is required: simply turn up – though you may want to register your interest at the booking desk (from 9am) as places will be allocated on a first come, first-served basis. Cyclists who want to try for a place in the final can practice on Wednesday and return on Thursday, between 10am and 1pm, to complete a two lap time trial.

The final, which will be televised and is sponsored by Asda, will take place in the afternoon. The fastest members of the will compete with pro-riders including Olympic track gold medallist Craig Maclean MBE; elite rider and TV presenter Anna Glowinski; and UK professional BMXer champion & Guinness world record holder Matti Hemmings.

Broadgate also hosts a regular bike station with the London Cycling Campaign. Providing free maintenance, training and advice to help support cyclists in the city, it runs on the first and third Thursday of the month in Finsbury Avenue Square.
